The Greater Hampton Roads Regional Crime Lines honored the area’s top cops during its annual awards dinner in October.

The 2016 Top Cop Awards Dinner was held at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Portsmouth. The event recognizes one officer from each department in Hampton Roads as well as citizens and organizations that have helped make the community a safer place to live and work.

One officer or deputy is also chosen from among all the winners and named the Hampton Roads Top Cop.

The event also raises money to support area Crime Line and Crime Solver programs in Hampton Roads, which run entirely off of donations.
